Recent events across the Atlantic, marked by attacks on scientific facts and against researchers, underline the urgent need for collective mobilization across the world. Echoing the Stand Up for Science Day initiated in the United States, scientists and academics in France are calling for mobilization actions in every city.

The Institut Pasteur has reaffirmed its commitment to free, open and collaborative research, and joins the “Stand Up for Science” community. The Institut Pasteur also expresses its solidarity with scientists in the United States.

This initiative stands by a critical imperative: to defend the independence and integrity of scientific research, an essential pillar of our democracies.

”Science is the foundation of our understanding of the world and of our ability to respond to its needs and challenges in an informed manner. We must all unite to defend it,” says Professor Yasmine Belkaid, Director General of the Institut Pasteur.

”We must remember that science is universal and at the service of humanity,” she concludes.
